Solid or engineered wood flooring?

On top, you have the species wood with its swirls and grain, and underneath wood fixed together by resin. Engineered floors have a higher capability to stand moisture so that they can go in areas like basements. Solid wood wouldn’t be a good choice for basements because they can warp under the humidity. Engineered wood flooring can be refinished to preserve its look, and it adds to the property value the same as solid wood floors.

With installation, you have a solid wood that will be sanded, sealed, stained, and finished at the job site. With engineered wood flooring, it is different. The engineered wood will be handled at the factory, with the sanding, sealing, and staining. So there is less of an installation time with engineered wood. You can still mix and match it in your home.
